How to organize an international architectural design
competition
(ADC) for a
historical and cultural heritage site or monument in Ukraine
|
|
|
On Thursday, 26 June, an
online workshop on the topic "How to organize an international
architectural design competition (ADC) for a historical and
cultural heritage site or monument in Ukraine" will take
place.
The workshop is held in the framework of the Creative Europe project
UREHERIT,
co-funded by the European Union and organized by the National Union
of Architects of Ukraine, the Austrian Chamber of Architects and
Chartered Engineers and the German Chamber of Architects - in
cooperation with the Architects
Council of Europe (ACE) and the Creative Europe
project ARCH-E.

ARCH-E workshops and talks about ADCs in Europe
|
|
|
|
Throughout Europe the ARCH-E
consortium presents the project's results in workshops and
talks.
These events aim to present
ARCH-E's results and findings on a regional level. Architects can
learn more about the tools developed by ARCH-E to support them in participating
in cross-border ADCs, experts from the ARCH-E consortium present
Good Practices from their countries of origin, research results and
the ARCH-E recommendations, clients can learn more about the
benefits, both in terms of Baukultur and economically, of ADCs as a
way to procure by quality based decision processes.

Upcoming events and initiatives
|
|
|
|
|
On 19 June 2025 from 14:00 p.m.,
the Federal Chamber of German Architects BAK's first national event
will take place at the Berlin Chamber of Architects in Berlin, as
part of the Women in Architecture
Festival 2025.
The ARCH-E project results will be
presented, contextualised and expanded upon by further expert
presentations, discussions and networking opportunities. It is
possible to participate on-site and online.

|
The Student
Architecture Award 2024 will take place on 26 June 2025 at 6:00 p.m in
Nicosia (Cyprus). This initiative will celebrate innovation, creativity, and
excellence among architecture students in Cyprus,
recognizing outstanding academic projects and fostering deeper
engagement within the European architectural community.
As part of the event, Katerina
Koutsogianni, representing the Cyprus Architects Association, will share
some insights of the ARCH-E project. Her presentation will
highlight ARCH-E’s role in promoting architectural dialogue,
collaboration, and visibility across Europe. In addition, she will
introduce the ARCH-E Map on ADCs, a pivotal initiative designed to
enhance transparency, accessibility, and opportunities for young
and emerging professionals in the field of architecture.

As every second Tuesday of the
month, the SIA invites participants to engage with experts about
pressing issues from the world of planning and construction. On 8 July from 6:00 pm, the
discussion will dwell around the ARCH-E project and the environment
of architectural competitions in Europe.
The debate will devolve around:
- What
new insights has ARCH-E gained in two years of research and
workshops?
- How
can European best practices pave the way for the competitions
of the future?
- What
impulses does the project provide for the future of
architectural competitions?

Vienna September School – The
Competition of Competitions
|
|
|
|
|
Next September, the second edition
of The Competition of Competitions will take place in Vienna. The
initiative is organised by the three architecture schools, the
Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (IKA), the University of Applied Arts
Vienna (IoA), and the Institute of Urban Design and Landscape
Architecture (Technical University Vienna). Over the course of four
days, participants will craft a compelling conceptual rationale and
programmatic framework for the future development of an expansive
industrial plant, the former Opel Werk Seestadt Aspern, that is now
set for transformation and repurposing by the municipality.
